Senior Program Officer, IDRC Canada, Visits University of Sargodha
Dr. Najeti Safini, Senior Program Officer at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada, visited the University of Sargodha (UoS) and held a meeting with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas. He was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Zafar Hayat, Director of the One Health Centre. The discussion focused on the University’s One Health Centre and explored potential avenues for academic and research collaboration.
Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas explained that the University’s priority is not limited to the institutional development of the campus. It also aims to contribute to the progress of the region and the country while strengthening global academic linkages through joint research projects.
He added that a healthy society thrives on modern scientific knowledge and awareness, which is why the One Health Centre was established. He highlighted that UoS is the only institution in Pakistan with such a centre. Its mission is to support the health of humans, animals, plants, and the environment, ultimately contributing to a healthier and more sustainable society.
During her visit, Dr. Najeti Safini toured the University’s ongoing academic, research, and development projects, including the library and the One Health Unit, where she interacted with faculty members and students.
Dr. Najeti Safini praised the University’s research environment and academic standards. She also acknowledged the role of the One Health Centre in strengthening the University’s international recognition and appreciated the discipline and visionary approach of the University administration. At the conclusion of the visit, the Vice Chancellor presented her with a commemorative souvenir.
